Professionally, I can say that the CQF was probably the best thing I did to give my career the boost that it needed. It enabled me to articulate myself with confidence in the area of derivatives pricing and calculation of risk for exotic instruments across multiple asset classes. I also found that the CQF dealt with a deep level of mathematical rigor and derivation from fundamentals without becoming overly pedantic. However, the key differentiator of the CQF program was in the application of theory into practice throughout the course, by way of implementing models and calculations using Excel, VBA and C++.
I can confidently say that I am where I am today because of the CQF. I re-entered the marketplace in the post-Lehman’s crisis environment and managed to find a role which was far beyond my initial expectations.
